My name is Carly and I am so thrilled you stopped by the Strive to Thrive blog! This blog is the result of my growing passion for living a healthy, vibrant life while still enjoying some seriously delicious food! After all, food is what gives us life and what brings us together, and the last thing it should be is bland and boring.
The kitchen has always been my happy place. I have fond memories of making spaghetti carbonara with my mom; of digging clams in Sequim Bay and steaming them for lunch; of chocolate chip cookie-making nights with my friends in high school. But I wasn’t always so health-minded. In fact, as a former pastry chef, I was quite a sugar addict! It wasn’t until a few years ago that I started making the connection between how I felt and what I was putting in my mouth…and that’s what led me here!

My goal with this blog is to provide you with real food recipes that fit into your very real, very busy life. I understand you often need to get dinner on the table fast, so my recipes tend to be easy to prepare and focus on providing a lot of flavor without a bunch of crazy ingredients. As a culinary school graduate, I’ll also be passing along my top kitchen tips and tricks so you so you can learn to not just enjoy eating food, but preparing it too!
While I wasn’t always the health nut I am today, I have always been a bit of a science nerd. I’m not one to take something at face value and tend to ask a lot of questions until I have all the facts. I believe it’s incredibly important not to just be told to eat a certain way, but to understand why. Much of the traditional diet advice we’ve been given is not only inaccurate, some of it is downright harmful. With this blog (and in the future with my nutritional therapy practice) I also hope to shed some light on what a powerful impact our eating habits can have on our overall wellbeing. As you may have guessed, I don’t want you to just “get by”, I want you to truly thrive!
